Heading to London and need a hostel which won’t break the bank but in a convenient location? My first choice is the Generator Hostel London, even having lived there for three-months in 2010.
The hostel offers a range of rooms including dorm rooms, which sleep between 4-15 people and starting at £20, female-only dorms, and private rooms. All dorms have basic wash amenities, and most have luggage lockers within the room – private rooms are the exception to this rule.
If travelling as a solo female traveller the female-only dorms are worth looking into for their added features. Upon arrival you will receive a welcome drink card, toiletries and provided with a towel; and the rooms include little extras such as hairdryer, a make-up bar, and chill-out area down one end of the bedroom with comfortable chairs and a range of magazines. Female-only rooms are a great way for females to travel by themselves in safety or to all stay in if you’re having a girls trip to London!
The hostel does have something of a reputation as being the party animals hostel with a great bar, nightly activities and plenty of pubs within walking distance. If you do want to get a good nights sleep then I recommend you get a private room, which begins at £30 per person, or request for your room not to be above the Turbine – the hall where the bar and breakfast is served.
Bathrooms are a communal affair, with just basins being located within dorms, and are spacious, and for the number of people who stay at the hostel, very clean. With around 6-8 showers available per sex, per floor you can almost guarantee that you will find an available shower when you want it.
The Generator Hostel London is a conveniently located hostel with everything a traveller will need, as well as being in the perfect location to see the best of the city.
Located on the Piccadilly Line and near Kings Cross St Pancras makes the Generator Hostel easy to access whether arriving in London by train or plane. Being near these two Tube Stations also means you have easy access to almost every tube line, and within easy access of all the city’s top sights.
At the hostel you’ll find plenty of amenities – a bar, cafe, lounge, convenience/tour store, laundry, free WiFi, and phone charge bar – and the staff are friendly, albeit few for the number of guests that stay there.
